Every TG2 Project starts with the default scene that ships with Terragen 2. The NWDA Default Scene is designed to increase productivity and quality in your creation process, with a number of useful optimizations and additions.
A New Place to Get StartedAs you can see from the screenshot above, most groups have been rearranged to optimize project overview in the node network. You will also notice a number of new groups and nodes, that will give you easy access to frequently used functionality. Most existing nodes have been optimized and re-parametrized to help you make more realistic renders out of the box. Procedural Terrain
The fractal terrain group provides you with a nicely designed general purpose procedural terrain - just out of the box. While the entire set of power fractals can still be modified in the internal network of the group, only the last shader in the chain makes it to the outside, further eliminating complexity in your network. Frequently Used Functions At Your Fingertips
Four new groups have been added on the left side of your network view, that provide you with frequently used functions and parameters, to help build your function networks. Just pull the x/y/z coordinates from the NWDA Default Scene, help yourself from the popular noise flavours and trigonometric functions. Some function nodes are hidden in the internal network of these groups, providing their share in keeping your function networks clean, minimizing the cobweb effect of growing networks. Below the groups you can see in the image above, is the new default workspace for your functions. Atmosphere & Clouds
The atmosphere itself has been slightly tweaked to help you make more realistic sky renders the NWDA style. Also, the three built-in major cloud flavours cumulus, altocumulus and cirrus are part of your NWDA Default Project at any time. They have been carefully tweaked and optimized to appear just like in reality. Altocumulus now appear as fractured large patches like they do in nature, cirrus are soft and 3D, and the cumulus have the right ratio of thickness and density and quality. All three cloud layers are disabled by default, so that you can switch them on selectively, as needed. Render Nodes & CameraBoth the full and quick render nodes have been slightly tweaked the NWDA way. Widescreen aspect ratio and a slightly higher contrast now come per default, with speed optimized GI settings for medium quality GI, which suits many renders. The camera now has a new default FOV to better provide the photograhic impression you would get from a real photo camera lens. The default exposure has been increased a tiny bit. Free Out-Of-The-Box ProductivityWith the NWDA Default Project you get a lot of quality from the first second of using it. See a few demo renders below that depict what you get just out of the box. This product is made available to everyone for free and can freely be shared and posted by anyone, anywhere you like.
How to install the NWDA Default Pack? Easy - save it to your hard disk, then open TG2. Go to Edit-Preferences. In the "startup" section of the popup window, select "Project Creation" as "Load from file". Navigate to your saved NWDA Default Project tgd and confirm. |
